This'll be the first time I try to post videos here, so let's hope it works. Below are a few videos from the book launch party that happned at Octavia Books on March 5, 2009. The videos were shot by the very nice Claire Jordan of the New Orleans vlog site acityoffriends.com. I'd love to hear your thoughts on these. (A tune about the flood, written during the evacuation, called "Go Down, Water") (A partial chapter from "The Sound of Building Coffins.") (Another tune about New Orleans after the storm, called "Dreamless") (Some Q&A with the audience. Note: the first two questions asked come from the writer, and my friend, Poppy Z. Brite) (One last song, this one called "Glory.") If you don't like viewing the videos in this format, you can go directly to the youtube playlist here: www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=7ADBB3D727794C3B

Wow, "Go Down Water" has such a timeless feel to it. Awesome. And "Dreamless" just brought a lump to my throat. I love the determination of "Glory". It made me think of sitting in a pub with friends, singing at the top of our lungs. Great stuff.
I laughed when you explained that the names weren't your idea. ;D
Did you happen to sign any stock at Octavia?

Thanks, Sonia! I really should do some proper recordings of these, but money and time are in short supply these days. Maybe some day... Anyway, I'm glad you liked them. Yes, "Glory" has a bit of an Irish drinking song feel to it, doesn't it?
I did indeed sign a whole mess of books for the fine folks at Octavia. They should have plenty of signed copies in stock at the moment if you're looking to order one.
thanks as always, Louie
